One, of many, from the Tilt rejects pile. More to follow.

Dan

=======================================
Who Wants To Be A Billion-Billion-Billionaire?
=======================================

GRAMS: ‘WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?’ BACK AFTER THE BREAK MUSIC

MUGABE:
I’m Tarrant Mugabe. Welcome back to ‘Who Wants To Be A Billion-Billion-Billion-Billion-Billionaire?’ Before, the break Winston here was asked ‘How do you ensure an election victory?’ and he answered ‘B – don’t release the results forever and ever.’ Winston, are you sure?

WINSTON:
I’m positive.

MUGABE:
Final answer?

WINSTON:
Definitely.

F/X: ‘LONG, TENSE PAUSE’ SOUND EFFECT FOLLOWED BY FAILURE NOISE

MUGABE:
I’m sorry Winston, it’s the *wrong* answer. The correct answer was ‘A – don’t release the results forever and ever.’ I changed the answers around after you made your final decision. I’m sorry – you’ve just lost a life.

WINSTON:
A life-line?

MUGABE:
Wrong again. Take him away.

END

Love it!

Was it an early tilt submission? They seemed to have used more and more unsolicited material as the series went on.

I certainly think that it was good enough to make it, I even LOL'd

Nice, maybe if you offered options would be sharper?

Otherwise good to see others, had decent skits rejected.

I reckon TS might look at this.

I also had a Mugabe sketch rejected (a parody of MTV's 'The Osbornes', but with the Mugabe family instead) but I got the impression that the commissioned writers generally took the headline stories, so you would have to write something pretty special to get something in ahead of them.

Was it submitted the same week as the Uncle Mugabe Games Compendium sketch? (Mine was, and also had a who wants to be a Billionaire joke in it - maybe we're too obvious?)

That said, I thought your sketch was good.

Thanks all for feedback.

It was sent for a later episode of Tilt, I think (4 or 5). I'm pretty sure it was in answer to a 'We need more stuff!' cry. That said, I think there was already a Mugabe sketch there (may even have been the 'games compendium' one).

Sooty, I've sent to TS. No idea if they want to use or not as haven't had reply.

Bugger! A mate just told me I should have used 'Morgan' and not 'Winston' for this. Such an obvious extra-level joke that I didn't even consider.

Maybe this is why I am not a professional at this...

Morgan Tsvangirai is leader of the MDC, the opposition to Mugabe's Zanu-PF party in Botswana.

I say this with some authority, having been informed of it in the last hour, and then checked spellings on Google.

;)

Mind you, if you have to explain it...

I was thinking of him but couldn't remember his name. Still, a decent sketch.

Call him Leroy and be done with it :P

That's not being stereotypical, well, only jokingly.
