Just saw on Chortle that my comedy hero is going to be playing Fagin in Oliver! on the West End stage next year.

Probably the same production. Only says that Collins played the Artful Dodger though, not that he was the first. :)

Stevie Marriott also played him as well as Davey Jones.

Jack Wilde of course played him in the film.

Bizarrely, last time I went to see Oliver! it was to catch another of my comedy heroes - Barry Humphries was playing Fagin that time. He did briefly slip on the famous glasses to give us a bit of Dame Edna. We can only hope that Rowan goes for Blackadder rather than Bean if he chooses to do the same.

God, Dame Edna's bloody funny. "She" had that Michael Bolton on her show a while back and introduced him with "My next guest has had over 19 hits... On his website."
