Anybody know if this is out on DVD? Simon Callow! Brenda Blethyn! Almost completely forgotten! What's wrong with this world?

It's been scheduled a few times, and then cancelled/postponed. Some people do have copies though.

You have no idea. Two days after my original post, apropos of nothing, a friend of mine told me he had just bought the first series on hooky DVD (transferred from VHS) from eBay.
The only way this could be more of a coincidence would be if you were actually my mate, posting under a pseudonym. Come to think of it, he does like a sandwich. Hmm . . .

Like I said 21 minutes after your post, some people have copies.
Or are you TOTALLY failing to catch my drift...?

You can buy it here:

Great site. If you buy it, burn us a copy?

Or you could ask around for people willing to do a free (or realistically priced) copy. Nudge nudge, wink wink.

Look, you mad Jewish penguin you, you can't just come in here and throw out randomness like that without giving more details.
