Hi to all that read this.
Ok introductions to get out of the way. I'm Lee. Originally from Newcastle but lived in London for 5 years and now Northampton for a couple of years.
Ive always been into comedy and how it's changed through the decades. Always enjoyed writing and used to do writing for TV, Theatre and Radio classes a few years back but never done anything with it untill the last year.
Ive always toyed with ideas and always used jokes within life and after reading the Peter Kay book the penny dropped and I thought maybe there is a way for a working class lad like me to get into writing comedy.
Ive written a sketch show (which I want to be the foot in the door), a pilot for a tv series, most of the way through writing a novel and just started writing a radio script. Guess Ive joined this site for some direction because everywhere I look agents dont touch people unless they have a deal and you can't get a deal until you have an agent. Yet I keep reading that TV is crying out for comedy.
My influences I guess would be the Marx Brothers, Lee Mack, The Mighty Boosh, Peter Kay, Eric Sykes, Andy Hamilton and the late, great Ronnie Barker.
Other than comedy I love meeting up with friends, playing sport, most music, theatre and learning about Psychology, NLP and History.
Maybe chat to some of you soon.

Hi!
You are a multitasker. (sketches, TV, novel and radio!)
I like your influences ('cept Peter Kay). But what the flip is NLP?

Hello and welcome to the show!
I was in Northampton for 3 years! Loved it, but then I was at uni, bit different if you actually live there I believe!

Hello Lee
I've tried all those but have yet to actually "get" anywhere with it. I guess you've had some performed though?

A big thank you one and all for the welcoming messages.
Reet then as we say up north here are answers to questions.
zooo - NLP _ Neural Linguistic Programming - it’s an understanding on how people are programmed into thinking and acting the way they do, body language and such like....bet you wished you hadn’t asked now LOL
Also, I like Peter Kay he's one of the people like the Boosh that was rejected time after time and from an ordinary background and proved them all wrong but believed in himself...you have to admire that. Sticking to your dreams.
EllieJP - Northampton is cool, Newcastle too cold, London - too smelly and too many mad people but Northampton is good I like it people are really friendly.
David Chapman - No I haven’t actually but I am now starting to think that it might be the only way to get through the barrier. I think that's why I am going to try the radio route to see if that is any easier. I guess I'm one of these people that won't do anything unless I am happy with it so I guess I’ve just kept it all internal till the last year and a bit and then I’ve just wrote like a demon to get everything written.
Actually I thought I’d share this with you all, just got a letter from an agent I sent a brief letter to asking if I could send my script for the sketch show to them. The reply I received was 'We've now considered the contents and I am sorry to say blah, blah, blah' thing is I didn’t send them anything just a letter ! how can you consider the contents without knowing what the contents is. I can consider the contents of chicken soup only because I know what chicken soup is !!
Anyway enough rant LOL, Speak to you all soon I hope.
Lee
