Thanks to everyone who has expressed an interest in getting involved in contributing content to the new website - really kind of you all! I've had a great response and am pleased to say there's 100s of new guides now in the works.

I believe I've now emailed everyone who has expressed an interest in getting involved but if you haven't got an email from me in the last week (and it isn't in your spam filter) please do private message me so I can explain all! Also, if you haven't expressed an interest yet but are now interested in getting involved it's not too late!

Here's a brief summary of what's going on:

NOW:
People have started to write about the comedies and people they've got ticked in our contributors system.

NEXT WEEK:
I'll be ready to talk to everyone interested in writing feature articles about what topics they're thinking of covering.

LATER THIS MONTH (2 WEEKS):
Our database input screens will be ready and anything that's been written can be submitted. At this point we'll also get the ball rolling on transferring existing content and plugging the gaps in our database (with help from our 'versatile researchers').

FEBRUARY:
The guide writing continues so our database is packed full of data. We'll also be finishing off the various new website features and testing everything.

START OF MARCH:
If all has gone to plan the new website becomes public and sitcom.co.uk is switched off and redirected to the new website.

Cheers again for everyones help and support. If you have any questions about contributing or our plans do let me know!

Hi Mark - is to late to offer to write reviews? Also - will the new site have the capability for the members to create their own blogs?

Never too late to contribute, Simon! Send Mark a PM and he'll get back to you with more info (if he hasn't already).

As for blogs, no. There are plenty of free services (Blogger being the predominant one of course) which allow you to write a blog, and the website field in your profile can then be used to link to it. You'll be able to submit your own reviews for shows, DVDs and so on, but our intention is to be an information resource, rather than just another bland duplicate-every-feature-on-the-web site - plus of course, much in the same way as the YouTube channel was proposed recently, anything written in a blog hosted by the BCG would/could be seen as being promoted or authorised in some way by us. Which I'm sure you'll understand we really can't do!

Hope that helps. :)

At the moment we're looking to collect purely factual information. But, as Aaron says, the new website will have a "review this show" type page attached to every comedy in the database. Once we launch you'd be more than welcome to use that to submit your reviews about various shows.
