Andrew could play me, Lee's old schoolmate, returning after years as an ex-pat ...

He should be in it!
Tim's cousin. Moves in with Lee, becomes his new best friend.
Jealousy ensues.
No need for women at all!

Yes as long as he does jokes about Brit Pop and Morrissey I like Lucy to mis-quote a something which has the title I Love Lucy.

Welcome, cant agree with you there.I actually love the scenes Lucy is in.
It would not be as good if everything revolved around Lee&Tim.Its like fools &
horses in that not just Dellboy with the best lines they are shared around.I
thought Sally Bretton lifted this series to another level.I for one would be not
be looking forward so much to series 3 if she's not in it.

She's a pretty woman but doesn't seem that comfortable doing a sitcom yet. And compare the very first series of 50 minute episodes of Only Fools & Horses in 1989 when it was Del, Rodnney and Uncle Albert in the flat to the series the following year when Raquel and Cassandra became more prominent. The show wasn't as strong. And when they came back for those ill advised episodes after they won the money, the show was a shadow of it's former self when Raquel & Cassandra were given more screen time ahead of Trigger, Boycie etc.
That was the problem for me with series 3 of Not Going Out, it was still funny but could have been so much better had Tim not been sidelined so much. In Frasier, Niles & Daphne were good in small doses, but when they got together and became more of a focus the show wasn't as funny. The funniest couple on that show was Frasier and Niles. So hopefully they won't go too far down the romance route at the expense of Tim's involvement.

"I new it","I new you were going to say that" I was
comparing the two with Dellboy&Rodders.Dont think Cassandra
had many great lines Anyway this ranks allready as my all
time favourite and I have got most of the great ones on dvd
but have never watched the same episodes(only got 5&6 on the HDD)
over and over again and have still not tired of them cant really
put my finger on what it is about it!Must admit series 1 was a slow
burner, will have to get the dvd and see if it is actually better than
I thought first time round, its looks to have some good extras on it for
a change as well.

Our preview of Christmas is published tomorrow afternoon, but to get the festive excitement going now here's a still from the forthcoming Christmas special...
(Spoilerlicious, turn away if you wish not to see!)
In my opinion its only the specials from mainstream sitcoms that ever seem to successfully manage to capture the festive mood, so I'm certainly looking forward to this one!

Maybe it was because I had really really high hopes for this, but I felt a little disappointed. I thought the first half was pretty bad, Miranda Hart was practically in every scene and ruined everyone of them, also too much reliance on the awkward humour and not enough gags which is what usually makes Not Going Out so different from other modern sitcoms. Tim not been in the first 15 minutes but Miranda Hart basically taking up all the screen time is appalling.
But it did pick up in the second half, the opening presents scene was really funny and there were lots of great gags planted throughout the murder mystery game. Also the ending was nice with the growing relationship of Lee and Lucy.

Started slow, but the murder game stuff was brilliant.
And full of great jokes as ever. I look forward to the third series - this is the best mainstream BBC sitcom since . . . I can't think of one it's been that long.
A bit too good.

Well I loved it, best episode of the second series for me, and to get an actor of the status of Timothy West must be a real coup.
I do have a bit of a concern with the whole setup of the show, that Lee is a 'serial faller in love with his flatmate becuase he doesn't get out enough' sort of thing, and I'm therefore concerned that the relationship is moving too quickly.
Pleased to see Tim's girlfriend back, a good character and nice of the writers to allow her to prove she can act, so the audince don't think she's like that in real life! Tim was under-used though.
Looking forward to series three.

Loved it, Tim's girlfriend is great. I like the cleaner, she adds some much needed physical comedy which you don't see too much of these days.
Nice and festive, what a great way to get ready for xmas.
Great to hear about the third series but it must be a double edged sword for the writers. All those gags! They should go to My Family and have a rest.
Why must I lose to this idiot!
