BCG Sketch Show

I know the sketch project is the main BCG/BSG sketch project and I agree that it will be something special, but I was thinking that while they get all that setup we can maybe try and pool some of the different talents around we have here and produce a pilot in a different way.
I've been fortunate enough to work with a few sketch shows of late and can see that an easier way to produce one is to have a couple of producers look over scripts and choose a shows worth, then we try and get some performers, a cameraman and an editor. From what I've seen on here, all that talent exists on these boards.
So my proposal is to try and pool together any interested parties:
Scripts
Performers
Editors (anyone who knows how to edit footage)
Cameraman (anyone who can point and click)
Another producer (preferably with some experience)
And see where we go from there. Some of you will be able to do all of the above, some of you (like me) might need some of the above so this will be a good opportunity.
I'm happy to organise it all (as a single person really needs to) and be a producer/scriptwriter possibly performer. And if anyone is interested in joining me then great. I know this can work and maybe we can have a BCG get-together after filming?
Just state your interest and possible role(s).
Get your work filmed in our sketch show Pilot!
Deadline: 9th June 2008

If you can just hold you're horses it would be great to have you involved in our project.

OK, Paul W, didn't want to clash. At the end of the day its just more exposure for people to get their work seen so I don't think it will clash too much. When is the website going to be ready then? We wouldn't need one, as we could just use this board.

We'd be using the boards on the new site.
As for when it's ready, I don't think even Mark knows that, it's going through a lot of testing at the moment.
But as said before if you could wait that bit longer it would be great to have you included in the main project.

I would continue via PM but I'm going in a bit, I'm very tired and have work work and more work to get done.
All sounds good to me, if you want to get the ball rolling and see how it all goes.

Yeah, all people need to do at this stage is to register their interest and role. Some have already PM'd me and thats fine.
I plan to do it like this:
Get the interest and get some roles sorted
Discuss themes/treatment
Ask for scripts
Pick some
Organise filming
Get it edited
Showcase it
The first two involves little effort on most peoples part so its worthwhile and it will dictate where we go on from there.

Just to come in on this...
As Paul says, the 'Official BSG BCG Sketch Project' will definitely be happening once the new site is launched and has bedded in. I'm expecting it to be something pretty good and will be roping in some industry people to help out (my only worry is there's likely to be just thousands of sketches coming in!)
The new site is still a couple of months off yet (I can't begin to describe how much work there still is to do), and even then we're probably need a month after that to keep on top of all the after-launch activity, so the 'official' sketch project won't be going for a few months yet... so if you wanted to start running something in the meantime via this message board you're of course more than welcome to!

Well writing sketches would be my main interest as it would be with most of us here, but would also like to try my hand at performing.
Not sure what role to perform, but as my name suggests "fat bloke" as in Harry Enfield's "the show's not over till the fat bloke sings"

Well that's the thing, I want to make it as simple as possible. Yes it will be open to everyone. I've outlined how I plan to go forward, first lets see if we can fill in the roles.
I just want to get the ball rolling, get one show shot. I see it as an extension of those here that produce their own sketches for YouTube but this time with more writers behind them, rather than being a large scale sketch show. That we can work to later.

We've got people for all roles although I'd like to know if there are any experienced performers interested. We have a few people who want to try it which is fine, but it would be good to have some people that have clips etc to their name, or who do amateur drama etc.
Just so we can have an array of performers.
Cheers!

As this is the first one, I'll leave it completely open in terms of sketch time, theme etc. Just remember we are very limited in sets/locations/props etc and that is more likely to be a deciding factor in the shortlist.
you can email me with your sketches at: funnierthandeath@googlemail.com

I propose in future shows we have different 'producers' as we all have different comedy tastes and it would be fairer on everyone.

Yeah, obviously only the best you've got. We've had some good ones so far although some them need particular costumes/locations etc. that we'll won't be able to get.
So if there were a theme for this it would be 'no location/uniform dependency' try and keep it as something that can be filmed inside a house/office/bar or outside a location. It will stand a better chance for this pilot.
Things are starting to fall into place.

Restrictions dictate so it will be funny sketches that can be filmed. The panel for this first ever one are going to be the people putting it together, who have experience in producing. This is how most radio and tv sketch shows are put together.
In the future we can have different members of the panel and I know the official BCG Sketch Project will have voting etc,.
Keep them coming! We've got some good twists on everyday situations so far.

Yeah it is possible to get stuff out there and seen. I think it also has to be original though and with a low budget that could be hard because the settings will be very similar, but that shouldn't stop the humour from been unique. That way people in power will take more notice...hopefully.
