Just the basic,

wouldn't it be fun to sneakily give others ring tones,

e.g."Get down I've got a gun," "If I got you drunk, would you sue me for shagging you?" or just good old "Boris would make a great mayor,"

That would be embarrassing.

No idea why. Just the only one I have on my phone.

My message tone says in a deep American accent: Excuse me boss, you have a message!

:P

I have Monty Python's "Always look on the Bright side of life" as my Ringtone.
And for text messages I have "True Believers" by the Bouncing Souls for my text messages.

For 4 years I had Europe's "The Final Countdown" as my ringtone. It went off in my jacket once when it was across the room during a lecture. Lucky for me the Professor thought it was funny and didn't give me shit for it.

So what is the ringtone you're locked on exactly? Your network's name being screamed out as loud as possible?

You can only purchase specific ringtones created by your cell company. Lucky for me they had some Monty Python BUT it also cost me close to 8 bucks for 1 ringtone.

What's going on in Canada? Is there some weird cultural reason you can't choose your ringtones freely?

And you can't help being French ( or half )

Don't beat yourself up about it...

There's thousands willing to do it for you.
But seriously Canada's great even if they are a bit strange when it comes to ringtones, i mean if you cant feel it in your pocket doesn't everybody then reach for their phone at once?

Yeah, but my ringpiece has a very low tone nowadays. not very impressive when in company.

Even though I prefer the our US version of "The Office" to the original, I still use the instrumental version of "Handbags and Gladrags" as my ringtone.

The first couple of notes are distinctive enough for me to notice without being too loud or intrusive to whatever surrounding I'm in.

Plus, it's a test of coolness. I'm waiting for that right person to say, "hey, I know that!"

(People calling me, however, do get the US theme as the ringback tune as the call is being connected.)

that may be too much info there thing, but if everyone here indeed has a different anal ringpiece tone, do you think between us we could play the theme to Fawlty Towers?

or battlestar (original) and that could be used as a ringtone, it would certainly amuse me in the supermarket.

I do not download ringtones, nor I pay for them. I rip an mp3 from my audio discs and use a 0.5-1 min section, usually the beginning of the song. Plus, I assigned a ringtone to ppl's numbers that call me most.

Wife - Blackmore's Night "Play Minstrel Play" (fast part, with Ian Anderson going nuts on flute)
Dad - Beatles "In My Life" (solo section)
Mother-In-Law - a piece of Bach's Vivace by Dutch progrock band Ekseption
Boss - Dream Theater "Ytsejam" (I did try to assign Blackadder I theme, as he's a huge fan of the show, but it just didn't sound good enough through the speakers)
general - Dead Can Dance "Saltarello".

Well, yeah. i'd offer to do the Bass section if only I didn't have to clench so hard - - - if it hadn't been for that bloke with the studded leather Postman's hat insisting he had to get something through me letterbox.
