Let me know what you think, thanks.

A WOMAN HAS JUST GIVEN BIRTH AND THE DOCTOR HAS HOLD OF THE NEW BORN BABY. THE WOMANS HUSBAND IS STANDING NEXT TO HER AND IS HOLDING HER HAND.

Doctor
(LOOKING AT BABY) Let me guess, it's a mong?

Woman
(LETS GO OF HUSBANDS HAND)What?

Doctor
It's a mong, surely?

Man
A mong? What do you mean?

Doctor
(LOOKS UP AT WORRIED PARENTS) Oh no (LAUGHS) I see what has happened here (LAUGHS AGAIN) I meant the baby's heritage, he has clearly got some mongolian heritage in him.

Woman
(LAUGHS) Oh yeah, he gets it from his Dads side of the family.

Man
(LOOKS CONFUSED) But love I'm from Leeds.

Make it Martian, drop the last line and paint the baby green.

I thought that this may be a taboo subject and I honestly do not mean to offend anyone. Thanks for the feedback Bill.

Bill, I know that Down's Syndrome is not funny, I have close family friends who have children that have down's syndrome, I was not trying to make the actual joke about the syndrome. In my opinion any subject is open for comedy but only if you get it right and make it funny, I clearly have not done this in my sketch. And would just like to say again that I do not mean to offend anyone.

Don't quite get it, and on this sort of subject you need clarity.

The idea of the sketch was for the baby to be born and basically he was not the mans child but the child of a man from Mongolia. So therefore the man finds out his wife has been cheating on him.

It won't work. Mong is a term every one, including Mongolians, and those with Mosaic Downes Syndrome would find offensive. Also the implication that a baby with this condition, would be a horrible result (as implied), would offend people in the wrong way.

All in all it's not worth it, for whats basically a very slight pun, in my opinion.

Yeah I think you are right Sootyj, Ill put this one in the bin. Thanks.

If that was what you intended, it didn't come out in the dialogue, unfortunately Down's syndrome is known as Mongol babies & that impression overrides the simpler nationality issue. However if you re-word it as another nationality say Welsh, you can see that the basic sketch isn't really very funny anyway.

However, if you make it 'impossible', like I said; try it with the baby as a green Martian and it is funny.
