I'm not usually this bitchy, but, I'm watching Jenny Eclair, now, on 'The Late Edition', and I'm just wondering, how the FUCK did she ever win the Perrier prize?

No, I quite like her.

She's bloody awful.

Taboo breaking at one point, but now a tad embarrassing.

Mad aunt stylee, she's nice.

On Wednesday 31st December 1969 GMT at 7:00 PM GMT, catskillz said:

She falls into that group of comedians, who are usually either women, or gay men, who seem to be obsessed with making jokes about poor people.

I went to the Room 101 recording when she was on it.

I don't like her salt adverts.

And her episode of Who The Hell Are You or whatever it's called, was fun.

Yeah she's alright, one of the better 'Grumpy Olds'. I do wonder what her stand-up would be like, though.

I'll let you know - I've got tickets to her 'Because I Forgot To Get A Pension' show in May.

Just a genuinely funny woman.

She's not my cup-o-tea and I generally turn off when she's on, but I don't think she's "shit". She's at least got chutzpah and confidence in delivering her stuff. More power to more people I don't laugh at, I say, as long as they have the persona to pull it off.

(I'm expecting a response after that last sentence)

I like her.

Obviously she's been around for a while and was ground breaking at he start. Another oneI've "grown up" with. She is very dirty, has a very sexy voice - and reminds me very much of someone on here.

Just on Saturday, she was saying on her radio show how she quite often gets mistaken for Su Pollard and vice-versa. Though she says she gets the rough end of the stick as Su is 10 years older!

I do get confused between the two, also but still have in the back of my mind that she is a bloke dressed as a woman. Not sure why, probably heard of her around the same time as Lilly Savage and get them mixed up.

For what it's worth I do think she (Eclair) is very funny. As mentioned previously, one of the better Grumpies. No match for Don Warrington though: he is *the* Grumpiest Old Man ever!

I'm pretty sure she has a daughter. And I'm pretty sure I've heard her talking about boyfriends and ex-husband(s).

If that's what you're getting at.

From what she said last time I heard her that's probably not far off the truth.

A total role model for Charley.

She's one of those infuriating all girls/guys/gays/vampires together. Who use faux chumminess to excuse pretty nasty low grade material, and naked prejudice. She's as nasty as Bernard Manning, but less funny.

She's a sort of comedy vacume, in that you actively want to laugh less after watching her.

Ummm, I think that I have seen the occasional jibe at Ricky's physique from uncouth persons. Just here and there.

I'm no fan of Jenny Eclair. But I don't think I'm in her target audience anyway.

Having been there a few times, I don't think there is. It's a sort of satellite town place, where the roots aren't very deep, so no real identity has developed. One of the reasons it made a good setting for 'The Office' I suppose.
