Samantha Who?

Has anyone else seen this? I've just been watching it after oroboross mentioned it in the "Death of..." thread.
For anyone (ie most) who hasn't, it stars Christina Applegate as Samantha (surprisingly), who, to cut a long story short and avoid too many spoilers, finds herself with almost total amnesia, and so has to rebuild her life completely. Which sounds like the most contrived, unoriginal, boring, and generally shit premise ever. But there are some great twists to it, and although not laugh-a-minute, the story's really sucked me in.
As far as I can make out, there've only been 5 episodes broadcast to date, and I can't wait for more.
Also featuring Jennifer Esposito (Spin City), and the dude who was the illusionist magician freak in Jake in Progress. Which is another sitcom I loved, but probably no one's seen.

Yes ma'am, and I'm a pirate.

Any trekkies might recognise Frank the doorman as Tuvok from Voyager.
It's not as funny as some, but not totally worthless.

With the current state of US sitcoms on the big 4 networks, Samantha Who is a gem. I haven't watched it but I hear good things about How I Met Your Mother. The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are the only other current sitcoms I watch.

A girl can get wibbly wobbly eyes searching the guide on TV you know!

Great. Typical man. Get a woman all excited, then let her down.

You should have read the first post, shouldn't you, eh? It's like the disclaimer on the side of the packaging!
Besides, there's a reason men always let you down.

Ok, I really, really love this show. It's not one of those laugh-out-loud sitcoms (and due to its linear storyline, could be argued to not be a sitcom at all), but it does have some very funny scenes. The characters (particularly Samantha) are great, and it's generally pretty heartwarming, without being sickeningly so. My recommended download of the month. I hope it gets picked up here.
Oh, and Christina Applegate looks better now than ever.

Well spotted! I think it's probably the US entry, but interesting nonetheless. I do hope a mainstream channel here picks the show up. People need to watch it!

Isn't that unusually drastic? She was diagnosed pretty early, wasn't she?
On Wednesday 31st December 1969 GMT at 7:00 PM GMT, Aaron said:
If she has a history of it in her family, or it was a particularly aggressive form, then she may have been advised to go for complete removal. Drastic perhaps, but there's no point risking treatment which may not work and thus allowing it to spread in the meantime.
