The BSG Meetup

On Wednesday 31st December 1969 GMT at 7:00 PM GMT, Aaron said:

Right, we need to get a move on if this is actually ever going to take place.

Basically, it's going to be in London. Central. And before we can arange an exact place or itinerary, I need to know exactly WHO is coming, and what dates are possible.

(Just for the record though, the idea at present is to meet up early afternoon, do something, grab food, and then carry on until people get bored, or we get chucked out of wherever we happen to be at that point.)

Firstly, it's got to be a Saturday for an at least reasonable number of people to turn up. Since we're much later on in the year than planned now, it really has to be December I think. I know we're getting into the Christmas rush then, but it'll add another reason to the meetup (Christmas party!), and allow people some time in town to sort out pressies, if necessary!

So in short, Mark and I are suggesting either Saturday the 1st or 15th of December.

Thoughts?

P.S. For once, please don't go off-topic in this thread. I need to be clear here exactly who is interested.

Oh, and entertainment of some form, with any luck.

Well, I suppose in that case then it would involve lubricants and such, no? ;)

Anyway, we're getting off-topic!

Just to summarise and clarify though, we're hoping to be able to do something or see something or go somewhere entertaining, and preferably comedy related. If people wish to wander off to Soho on their own, that's up to them!

Everyone whose got a logon to the website... and has posted a bit on the forum I'd say. I would add 'also isn't odd', but I think that'd rule us all out.

As Aaron has said - if we can find some comedy related entertainment that'd be fun I think.

Anyway, mainly we're just looking to choose a date and get an idea of numbers at this point - what we do, where we go can follow that. 1st or 15th December are our two suggestions... but if there is a different date that is prefered do let us know.

(By the way... just to make clear you're not signing on the line by posting in this thread - appreciate not everyone can be 100% sure of their diary commitments yet, but if you do want to attend all being well, do please let us know your preferred date).

30-40mins: Someone (David) cracks a terrible joke, no one laughs

40-50mins: Someone coughs (a sure sign that they want to leave but can't due to the chains)

1 hour: Everyone leaves after a very awkward group photo is taken.

I'm sure everyone will recognise Aaron seeing as his picture is on here. If not, just look for the group of people who look a bit odd and awkward - spotting hardcore comedy fans is always easy I find.

I'm easy to spot too - I wear an eye patch, carry a pogo stick around with me at all times, wear zany bow ties, like talking about train spotting and have a really excitable personality (some people say I'm a mix between a pirate and The Fast Show's Colin Hunt). Strangely I've never been to a party that lasts longer than 10 minutes - it always seems to in-explicably break up just after I arrive.

Lunchtime... I thought we were meeting in the evening?!?

For your infomation it did crack - I heard it. Then before the pain started I screamed I broke my ankle...then went into shock and started apologising to everyone. I was then carried to my club house, where the ambulance man came, CUT my boot and sock off...NOT HAPPY... then gave me laughing gas... VERY HAPPY... then spent 4 hours in a & e which isn't very long hey?

Its a good idea to move it away from a date that is so close to Christmas. Hopefully some of the writers will be able to make it so the sketch project and other things can be discussed. Maybe there will be a bus by then.
