Heard good things about this new-ish sitcom but never checked out, until today, I just watched Episode 1, it's pretty funny. Apparently it gets better each episode through Season 1. Season 2 starts later this year I think, Jerry Seinfeld is making an appearance in the season opener, should be good.
Anyone else seen this show?

Episode 1 is pretty good, but I'd say the show doesn't really take off until Episode 6 or 7. Very clever show. Looking forward to season 2.
NBC is finally back. They had a bad run after Seinfeld ended, but now with The Office, My Name is Earl, Scrubs, and 30 Rock on all in one night...excellent.

30 Rock is my favourite new show from last season and ranks up there with The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman (an IFC sitcom that's part AbFab, part Office and part Jackie Woodman) and should be mandatory watching for any sitcom fan. Tina Fey plays Liz Lemon the head of a fake sketch show, which she is suitably prepared to star and write as she was a head writer and star over at Saturday Night Live, which is where many of the show's plots orginate. Whenever a truly absurd situation happens on the screen it leaves me wondering if they made that one up or if something similar happened to Fey in real life. And I agree, it makes NBC's Thursday night sitcom line-up a massive hit when combined with Scrubs, The Office, and My Name is Earl.
This is one show I'd like to see an adaptation for a UK version, especially considering there are so many more sketch shows on your side of the pond. Perhaps "Little Little Britain" or "Smack the Pony's Producers"?

Loved Tracy trying to record the promo, "I'm brining the black back to NBC and I'm proud as a peaCORK baby!".
And also when he asked Jenna to sing, "Oh you don't want to hear that"..."No, I do (turns off the CD)" and she immediately gets up and starts singing with no hesitation. Brilliantly delivered.

I don't think Seinfeld would really stoop as low as to just appear on any old show in order to promote something, it would be a show he likes. I have huge respect for Jerry Seinfeld, he made a clear choice to end Seinfeld when he did even though NBC were offering ridiculous amounts of money for him to continue and then he decided he wanted to go back to stand-up and didn't want to be one of those actors/comedians who try to hog the limelight forever.
Oh and also yes Tina Fey is hot but they try to present her character as not being hot..although she quite clearly is.

If you saw the Seinfeld episode, it was pretty bad. At least in my opinion. Definitely he did it to promote his movie. The only funny line was about there being a "secret island only the very rich know about".
And Seinfeld has been all over NBC with little (mostly unfunny) comic bits to promote his BEE MOVIE movie, which has gotten some great reviews, admittedly. Probably take my kids to see it. But he is all about the self promotion at this point. And why not?

Liz: [Crying] I know, i'm not over it and now i'm wearing this. [Similar to the way Seinfeld says it] What is the deal with my life!?

Jack: That's right! He's the Rat King. And there's only one way to break up with a rat, you have to cut him off completely

I don't dislike Tracey, just to me he's not my main reason for watching. I tend to agree on some of the writers, though. Some do seem underwritten and slightly pointless...although not nearly as underwritten and pointless as the writers in Anually Retentive. The writers in that are more like cardboard cut outs.
And you're right, there's plenty of time to develop the writers over a long American series.

Sorry to disagree with myself, but 30 Rock doesn't stand a cat in hells chance of becoming a long-running series. In fact, I suspect it'll end up having fewer episodes than Arrested Development before its inevitably cancelled due to poor ratings.

The only terrestrial channel that knows how to handle American sitcoms is Channel 4. BBC struggles with the 22 minute length (they have 8 minutes to fill with trailers, etc) and Channel 5 doesn't really have a schedule that can accomodate them, especially now their brief dalliance with homegrown comedy is over.

It was a great show this, badly mistreated by channel 5; I hope they put the second series on.

Watched the first 10 minutes of the last episode. MILF Island is just a great concept, and I bet ITV and C4 are kicking themselves they didn't think of it.
Plus I love the line "Making them eat bugs for tampons!" amde me LOL

Milf island was gold. Good episode even if I saw the ending coming a mile away. Point is it was funny.

Thus proving, once again, that there is nothing inherently wrong with an obvious ending.

Really enjoying this. Interesting to see a show written by just one person too. I wasn't aware that that even happened in America, to be honest.
And Tina Fey. I see it now!

For me, one of the funniest moments from the series, was when Tina Fey was looking at herself in a mirror, worrying that her eyes were too far apart, and she said she thought she looked like Admiral Akbar, from Return of the Jedi.

It's not written by just one person though.

Ah. How strange. Evidently I've only paid attention to the writing credit on episodes that she's written then - woops! Still, great show.

It is great, though I do think they could develop a few more of the characters; theres plenty of them but some, such as that bald guy friend of hers, hardly get anything to do.

Anyone catch the season finale? Or perhaps it hasn't aired in the UK yet? Anyways it was really funny! What a crazy ending!

Are you talking series 2 Curt? Weve only just finished the first over here.

Oh! really? That sucks...well when you get the chance season 2 is really funny stuff. The comedy is a little more chaotic at times (unrealistic) but very very funny non the less.
