Use your eyes, woman!

Have to say though, I quite like it too. Well, ok. Perhaps like implies something further; I don't mind it. I'll watch it if it's on. But I wouldn't hunt down the DVDs or watch it specifically.

I enjoy it! From being at uni and not getting up till late it was always my morning entertainment followed by King Of Queens. That was also pretty good.
I miss channel 4!! TV is Aus is crap and i have to put up with Australia's got Talent and Australia's biggest loser...(it's a weight loss programme, they're not trying to find australia's biggest sad case)

I refer my answer to a post I made on a previous thread.
'Raymond' only really kicked into gear when Amy and her family were written in and especially her brother who was also in 'There's Something About Mary'. The other great asset in the show was the actress Doris Roberts who played Raymond's mother. As the series went on the writers made her the mother/mother-in-law from hell, which I think she played with superb timing.

Oh yes, she was a brilliant actress!!! Loved her -but also dreaded finding a man with a mother like her attached!! haha

it a shame that most of the sitcoms i like are american, probably cos they have 100 scriptwriters per episode ><

You don't expect much from a sitcom screened in the mornings, but it can actually be very funny.

I like to watch it early in the morning before work it really is a good sit-com, well acted, well written, sometimes it is repetitive i.e yet again they are arguing about her cooking, but that is only a few episodes, i do like it, one of the best American sit-coms.

Rays bro Robert in the show has the scariest voice ever. On his wedding day when he and his new bride Amy were doing there first dance I must say it was brilliant.

A decent comedy with steady humour. I remember watching it with 4 guys while living in Toronto. Two guys who had office jobs, the other two were Construction workers. The office guys loved Raymond and the Construction workers couldn't stand Raymond. They kept yelling at the screen saying "Why's this guy such a little bitch!?". Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Ummm!!!- Has its moments, but is packed with the kind of awful American humour that sadly 'Friends' is packed with. I do love Robert though. The actor who plays Raymond was in an edition of 'Guiness Book of Records' for being on the most money per episode in any show for appearing in 'Everybody Loves Raymond'

I quite like it, but you really need to get into it, in order to get some fun out of situations - if you watch it casually, it seems much less funny. (OK, I'm not saying it is particularly deep or anything
)
We're currently watching Season 8 (last but one), and I can say the best seasons were between 4-6 - those were the wildest. Roberts is great, no doubt, but Frank, the father, is the icing on the cake for me.
Also it helps when you recognize some of the characters in real life around you. I have a "virtual" friend from States who claims Marie is nothing compared to her mother-in-law. One of the her favourites was:
"teri, your mother has such beautiful skin. it is one of the advantages of being fat. you don't wrinkle so much"
fantastic. Can you imagine Marie saying that? Very easily.
PS. King Of Queens seems such average infantile-husband with wise-wife and pervert in-law sitcom. Carrie is not my favourite looks-wise. Just Shoot Me! had a great start, but getting rather bland as well (I'm on season 4). Likewise, Less Than Perfect (seen the first three seasons) started great, but lost it somewhere in Season 2.

Yep it's because of Everybody Loves Raymond that Chris called his show Everybody Hates Chris.
TBH I don't understand why they all hate Chris because he's a lovely kid, and I don't understand why they all love Raymond because he's a whiny, clingy, mummy's boy.
Oh yeah, Kermit the frog wants his voice back, Raymond.
Right. Bed.

You've got to be kidding? Boyle's acting at best is ordinary at worst plank like. He is not the best thing about that show by a long way.

I agree his acting is anything from dramatic in the show but that is exactly how a lot of older men his age in North America sound, talk and act. Plus the writers had given him a lot of hilarious lines.
On Wednesday 31st December 1969 GMT at 7:00 PM GMT, Dave said:
Debra is my favourite character. I think there's a bit of Sybil from Fawlty Towers in her, in that she can intimidate Ray so easily. Frank is another great character; whenever he visits with Marie, he just sits down and watches TV like he doesn't really want to be there. Robert's wife Amy is funny too; I'm not too sure about Robert himself, though. He is kinda funny, but I do feel a bit sorry for him having always lived in Ray's shadow, and his voice can be a bit annoying sometimes. He's not like Niles in Frasier, when he virtually trancends the programme he's in.
