Series 1 has just stared on BBC Canada and plays on Friday night. I've so far watched two episodes with my fiancée and like it both but I have to say the constant slow motion and 'speed up' scenes are a bit annoying at times. Does this get any better?

As far as I know the purpose of it is to try to make it funnier. By speeding up some scenes you can fit more into the show. Slowing down some parts can make the situation look funnier. I personally think they do work, but then again it is a matter of opinion.

It grows on you. I hated it at first, but quickly got obsessed by episode 4.

I love the speed-up/slow-downs. Without them, the show wouldn't be the same at all. A brilliant device, used so perfectly that no other show will be able to for quite some time, IMO!

It's a great series. Stick with it.

Look out for Sue White especially.

It's called ramping, which will save you all from getting RSI from writing 'speeding-up/slowing etc..

It's a gimmick really. But it does give the show an identity, which is harder to come by for any TV prog set in a hospital.

Well good to know at least. I'll be sure to stick with the series. I just wanted to know if I should try and get used to it. :)

I feel exactly the same. When it was first broadcast I loathed it, but when I watched it again on recently it started to worm it's way under my skin. The slo mow etc can get a bit tiring at times, but it's worth persevering with.
