Sorry this isn't true... I'm actually making him Chief Editor! A man with that sort of passion deserves it. The new site will consist entirely of smilies.

Probably stick to the basics if you're writing up already Ian. We're completely reorganising and changing what information we store, nevermind how we actually store it. All input will be appreciated of course, but we'd hate for you to spend hours writing up something which we won't actually be able to use!

Wouldn't mind writing a regular monthly writers' article about a classic sitcom and how the structure and characterisation of the piece lead to its success.

Obviously, this would have to be counter-pointed by sitcoms that were much hyped but failed to deliver, exposing the flaws in the comedy.

I feel I am sufficiently knowledgable and arrogant about comedy to do this. Would, of course, have to allow debate about my opinions (however ignorant and ill-informed).

I'm giving an 'ok' to that one purely because of my own personal interest. Don't care what Mark thinks of it. ;)

We welcome all ideas and contributions Tim - sounds good!

If you haven't already, please fill in the form making sure you tick the relivant box (Feature Article Writer). The reason I ask this is then when it comes time to explain more about submitting content to the new website, issuing logins to the database etc I don't accidently miss you out.

Cheers.

I realise this offer is "subject to status".

I'm relatively new as a member to this site, however, have dipped in and out of it as a guest for a good while.

You can see a bit of my recent biog on the Writer's forum, where I started (what I hope will be continuing) a thread about 'SUBMISSIONS'...etc.)

I'm 34 with a long interest in sitcom and general comedy going back to 1950's humour.

I'd like to start with contemporary sitcoms such as 'Father Ted', 'The Office' and 'The Thick Of It', and comparing how the same writing skills apply to the sitcoms of the 70's shows such as 'The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin', 'Rising Damp', 'Fawlty Towers'.

A monthly submission for writer's consumption, concerning the technical points of how good comedy, regardless of era, is always based on character, plot and scene structure.

It would, of course, have a forum to criticise my opinions, but I am at least confident enough to know these shows and know why they succeeded.

Cheers.

Ah we submitted a response at exactly the same time there - I must have beaten you by a fraction of a second to the post button. In case you missed my response Tim please see above your last post.

Cheers Tim! I'll be in touch with more info about the new site etc in a couple of weeks then - at that point we'll be ready to engage with everyone in regards to the specifics of what they'd like to write about so will no doubt talk in more depth about your ideas then :)

I've filled out the form. I'll be studying journalism at university soon, so this should provide me with some useful experience.

I have filled in the form as well.

Seeing as I'm a big comedy geek with endless, useless (to some) knowledge of the subject batting around my head I hope I will be able to let some of that information out for others to wallow in.
