Seefacts, I think that his face is considered perfect for those kind of characters (or at least what he can do with it).

Whether it actually IS or not is down to personal opinion.

And as good as Nicholas Lyndhurst is, yes, part of me can't help agreeing. I'm not sure if it's so much the voice as the face for me though. I guess he'll always to some extent be known as Rodney, no matter what he does.

As Rodney, NL could deliver a gag incredibly well. Best person on the OFAH team in that respect.

But in his normal voice, he struggles.

A bit too good.

I agree, Nick Lyndhurst is a great actor as evident in OFAH, GNS and in dramas like Murder in Mind and David Copperfield but he is miscasted in this show though I admit he does play the character well. I guess that we known him so well as Rodney, it's hard to do other roles.

BTW, has anyone seen the other sitcom Dani Harmer has done? I think it was Coming of Age.

If Nick Lyndhurst did his "Rodney" voice, it would fit the character better, because he would seem more working class to Diana's middle class. But Lyndhurst is probably trying to show the casual viewer that he isn't Rodney and he isn't playing him.

Yes, although it's only been a pilot so far. It was, erm, interesting. Incredibly vulgar, and I think at least 95% of people here would hate it. Nevertheless, I found it to be a great example of televised car crash syndrome, and for some reason would actually quite like to see more.

You say it was incredibly vulgar, did Dani swear or anything in it?

Erm, well you could say that. I forget who said what, but if you're sensitive at all, you'll find it abhorrent.

So much so, in fact, that swearing is comparitively angelic.

This week's episode was a case of a nice idea poorly executed with Diana's friend being a con artist. There were some funny moments with Kev (lee Oakes) and the sub plot involving Alex was good but I think it could of had more potential.

I've noticed they are using Lee Oakes a lot more in this series which is only a good thing as his character Kev is very funny compared to his character in TPOLAPOC.

hey kids. thanks for that nice comment, much appreciated. AYG has finished filming alas, after millenia it seems. We ended with the christmas special which I must say was pretty damn good, I'll be interested to see what you think. it was really quite a special one. plus it's 45 minutes long so you'd hope it would be good.

alas, we'll have to wait and see if we get recomissioned. until then, i'm doing doctor who! woo!!

Way to go! I was hoping you'd be in "Doctor Who", actually. That's makes you even cooler in my eyes. I love "After You've Gone". I think you're the funniest in it.

Yeah, I agree. To be honest, I thought the Rodney accent was his real one until this started.

I'm pretty sure I've seen an interview with him where he speaks really, really properly 'posh'. Maybe I'm imagining it though.

That's just not right. Not right at all. Still, he's always be Rodney to me.
