Tonight I'm really excited to be able to finally announce the plan to turn The British Sitcom Guide into The British Comedy Guide.
As you may have read in our monthly newsletter (which has just gone out), a lot of time and energy is about to go into transforming this site from the modest guide to a few British sitcoms that it is now into the definitive guide to everything to do with British comedy. It's going to take us years to cover everything but better to start late than never!
You can find out more about the plans at comedy.org.uk
I just wanted to re-assure everyone that although the website name will be changing this autumn and new features will be popping up (you'll be able to add your own reviews to the website for example), the heart of the site will remain the same. The forum won't be changing and the guides will stay the same format too (there will just be more of them and each will have more data).
Feel free to post any feedback or concerns you have about our plans here. We always take suggestions and requests on board so fire away!
Cheers!

Well, he says that the forums won't change - it'll get a bit of a makeover, and probably need some new forums to be created, but otherwise it'll be all as now. Any suggestions, as Mark says, are more than welcome, so feel free to comment below, or indeed drop us a PM.

Nice one. I'm especially liking the sound of the video clips section.
Most of us on here seem to be writers, so is there going to be more additions in that area? I'm not sure what you could do... how about expanding my weekly sketch competition into some more, official?

Mark and I haven't discussed much of the writers' section, but there should be some additions. Mostly, however, it'll be streamlining and improving what's already there.
Always open to suggestions though!

Thanks for the feedback Leevil. It's about time we entered the Web 2.0 broadband world of video so expect plenty of that - after all my thinking is why just write about comedies when you can now show them too
In terms of the writers area - I must admit it is unlikely to be our major focus at first. Although we do indeed have quite a few writers checking out our site, our programme guides are used by a much larger silent majority. We'll therefore be looking to produce more in-depth programme guides for them at first (after all we'll have a lot more shows to cover when we re-brand!).
That said there are some interesting interviews and articles in the pipeline for the writers area so it certainly won't be left to go stale.
Like Aaron says we're always open to suggestions (in fact I'm always moaning we don't get enough of them) so if there is something specific you'd like to see do let us know and we'll see what we can do!

Just to add to what Mark hinted on re writer-user ratio, less than 9% of our membership have actually registered themselves with us as writers. And unfortunately, only just over 4% of our visitors are actually members! This means that writers make up approximately 0.4% of our total audience - no matter how it may work out in terms of board activity.
Well, something like that anyway. It wouldn't work out quite so easily in reality, but you get the point. A relatively small crowd!

Hmmm, interesting, well nearly. I'm quite happy with the way things are, there's nothing to add really anyway is there?
The only thing I can think of is to find a better way of displaying our scripts for display instead of pasting them, but it's not a priority.
And to be honest, I'm ok now, since I'm hosting my pdfs on my own site, which is great by the way . I hope your computers can handle it, you need a pretty powerful one, the latest in fact!

Those kinds of uploads are one of the things we'll be working on, don't worry.

O.k I've just thought of something, I haven't thought it out, but what about a Comedy Connections bit. You click on an actor and it brings up a tree of all the other actors they've worked with.

Not really possible in QUITE that manner, but we will be recording all of that kind of stuff in minute detail, including by character, by actor, by episode, blah blah blah. So pretty much. But not exactly.

You could have Doctor Jesus problem Column. Each week people PM me their intimate problems then I answer them on the main forum, but keeping their identity secret of course. I.E. "A contirbuter to the forum has a problem "downstairs", he's one of the main contributers, lets call him, say A, No! Call him AA NO! Ron"
Is this helping?
60% of the time it works everytime.

When he says "downstairs" I'm sure he's referring to the kitchen or something?
Something to do with your plumbing maybe?
