I have lived in Northamptonshire all my life. I grew up on the warwickshire border but, in '88, got a job in Northampton itself that paid enought for me to get my own place. Not in Northampton, unfortunately, but in one of the Eastern towns of the county. But I managed to move 30 miles from my parents and 5 miles nearer to work in one go. Not bad.
I now live in a village just outside and it's pretty (ish), quiet, good pub food, near to a forest for walks etc and only and hour (from the station) to London for meetings with production companies.
We've lived here for over 8 years which means it's the second longest I've lived anywhere, just overtaking my batchelor pad, and we're really settled.

My wife, however, has just sneaked upstairs to do a pregnancy test which may mean we're on the move again, as all of our 3 bedrooms are full. A tense few minutes awaits, I feel.

I warned you. Nobody listened. Now you're all going to wake up in the middle of the night screaming 'My dog's got no nose' and singing old time music hall. Serves you right.

The UK Possibility:
Although there is a very good chance I may be moving to the UK for a year. I'll be finishing teacher's college next year, and your education system constantly advertises here in Canada for teachers to come and work in Britain. My fiancee can also request a transfer with the government to your country. I have some friends and family who have done it already and really enjoyed it. So who knows, there is a good chance I might be living across the pond next year. :)
