...not specifically Amersham but relocating generally.

Why are you where you are? Is it a family thing or a job? Was a lifestyle choice or for financial reasons? What's stopping you from moving in the UK to abroad?

WTF?

I was somewhere. Then I moved to the place I really wanted to be.
Then I had to move away again for money reasons, so I moved here. But hopefully next year I'll be moving back to the place I want to be again.

P.S. None of these places are Amersham.

Can you name? Just curious how far people travel.

I've spent all my time in East Midlands/East Anglia and would like a few hills to fall down. Trouble is, my family aren't keen so I'm out voted. :(

WTF?

I was brought up in Berkshire... near Newbury. Gorgeous little village, terrible for a teenager. Went to Uni in Northampton, loved the freedom. Then lived near Bedford for 5 months while I saved to go travelling. Then lived out of a rucksack for a year as I travlled the world. Am now in London. I want to live outside the UK for a year...maybe Holland or Germany. Learn a new language. But it all depends on the future of this job now.

But why there? Convenience or choice or through some other set of circumstances?

My mum and dad still live in the same house they had built in 1960 and my mum was born across the road some 25 years earlier in house her parents had built. My dad had moved 7 miles to be there.

Apart from 2 years in Norwich I've spent nearly all my (nearly) 40 years within 10 miles of the spot I now sit.

Just fancy a change but there doesn't seem to be a great deal I can do about it if the family don't want to.

I moved due to uni, and work. In my line of work I have to be in London for me to get anywhere in the job.

The Toronto Story:
I've attempted to move to Toronto a few years back. I hated every minute of it. It was dirty, it was crowded, people were pushy and it smelled funny (although to be fair there had been a garbage removal strike that year..seriously that's not a joke there really was). Only good thing about Toronto were all the job interviews I got. Soooo many jobs...you think they could give up a few to us non-Torontonian Canadians...jerks.

The Calgary Alberta Story:
After high school I hate purchased a train ticket to travel across Canada (I live on the east coast of Canada) to live and work in Alberta but my traveling buddy chickened out the day off...and thus I chicken out since i had no one to travel with.

The Montreal Story:
I also really wanted to move to Montreal for a long time. My finacee tried finding a job over there even but she landed this great job she currently has so we didn't. I love Montreal it's a gorgeous city, fun friendly people with lots of stuff to do.

The UK Possibility:
Although there is a very good chance I may be moving to the UK for a year. I'll be finishing teacher's college next year, and your education system constantly advertises here in Canada for teachers to come and work in Britain. My fiancee can also request a transfer with the government to your country. I have some friends and family who have done it already and really enjoyed it. So who knows, there is a good chance I might be living across the pond next year. :)

Live close to wear i started my company in Henely-on-Thames. At the time we considered moving elsewhere (got offered places in Sydney or just outside NY) but in the end felt working for ourselves here was better - now we could sell up and go there but dont want to (kids here etc). Maybe when i'm older.
