It just seems really uninspired, puking and wank gags. It's kind of like taking that school immaturity, which yes needs to be represented in a school sitcom, but it is using that as it's main joke, so instead of combining that with characters that are actually funny and can comment on the 'childishness' going on around them, they just have everyone acting like a 13 year old, with jokes written for 13 year olds.

I mean, the disabled kid unintenionally getting hurt! What next? Somone bad mouthing a teacher who turns out to be stood behind them..Oops!

To me it just seems lazy and uninspired. But yeah judge it on it's merits and all that.

I think I'll give it a chance first. I love the way people pre-judge it and then say they'll give it a chance!

I didn't have a problem with the disabled scene as the whole point of the scene was 'how badly can trying to impress a girl go?' and I thought it doesn't get much worse than that.

I don't understand why people are finding it so hard to find it funny. Has everyone lost their sense of humour (even the childish kind) ?!

One thing everyone seems to be overlooking is how talented the four main guys are; their characters are all totally different, well developed and have fantastic comic timing allowing even the normal (ie minus penis jokes) conversations to be very entertaining in that particular brand of effortless British comedy.
 

I've just spent the last few weeks watching all of the Freaks & Geeks boxset which is probably why I don't find this show funny or original. Although Freaks & Geeks is set in an American High School I find it much more relatable than this show. For example I remember teachers making you write lines, but I don't remember somebody puking into the face of a mate's little sister.

Don't knock pre-judging. You'd be surprised how often you're right with those initial first impressions.

Isn't the sole point of the trailers to reflect the type of show it is? Moreover, they often put the best bits of the show into the trailer, to hook viewers in. So it's actually perfectly acceptable to reach a vague conclusion about something on the basis of these ninety second promos.
 

Yes, I agree. But some of the opinions being expressed were far more than "vague conclusions". However, if Martin says that it's already been leaked - and thus implying that he's seen the whole of the first episode - then his comments are fair. Mark's seen the first few as well, so anything he says is also fair. Other people I can't speak for.

Just watched the trailers.

Why have they cast a 25 year old as someone who goes to school?

I have to say, certain bits seemed okay (not all that funny, but at least it wasn't given that horrible e4 "aren't we quirky and down wiv da kidz" type feel to it) so I may take a look. Though the fact they've done an American style 'lets cast people 10 years older than the parts they're playing is a bit off putting'.

Written by Ian Morris and Damon Beesley (who had characters in Extras named after them, of course) Morris scripted edited Peep Show.
