I have a lot of online friends (mostly Modwolves) and when I tell people I'm going to meet up with someone I met on the internet, they always seem really shocked, like I've just told them I'm about to jump off a cliff!

What are everyone's views on online friendships? Are they real?

Can forums be likened to a work place/pub community?

Can you fall in love (for real) online?

Believe it or not, I met the woman who is now my wife and mother of my child through a forum. I shan't tell you which one, though, as it's a little geeky and embarrassing. And both my wife and I have made good friends through fora (yep, I knew what the Latin was ;)) - virtual and real friends, that is.

And your MSN/IM/ICQ handle is ... ?

(Don't panic - I'm not hitting on you. I wouldn't have admitted to a wife and child if I was, now would I?)

Definitely.
Kissing and that is essential.

I reckon you can tell whether or not there's a sexual spark from the first kiss alone. At least, that's been my experience.

Oh I can't stand her but poons poon.

I met my wife via the internet. We have been married for seven years now.

Cybersex is a load of wank.

That's just stating the obvious.

There was some kind of penpal situation involving poets. That's all I know!

Does anyone remember that sketch on Lee and Herring (was it?) with Anthony Hopkins writing letters to women, always signing off, I'm wanking as I write this.
Funniest thing ever.

One of my all-time favourite sketches. :D *lol*

Doesn't playing that simply make you a wanker?

I know people who have started relationships via the internet, but I just feel that meeting a stranger in a pub/club is the best way.

There's no history, no expectations, less character traits hidden etc.

That's just me personally.

I don't know quite why, but I find that sentiment rather amusing.

You know the old "Beer - Helping ugly people have sex since *insert hundreds of years ago date here*" thing? Well that's the Internet nowadays.

Thank God for the Internet.

Anyway, Aaron, is this 'Laura' your GF and is she a BSG member? Just that I've seen a few people with this 'Magical aura of laura' thing in their sig and it's been confusing me!

I'm not too up to date with the goings on of BSG, I've only recently started visiting General Discussion...
