This might have already been mentioned on another part of this forum, but I think it's worthy of it's own thread in this section, mainly because I laughed more at last nights episode than at most recent recent British comedies. Last nights was a good opener, with sixteen of the most self-aggrandising twerps you're ever likely to see. Raef is an early star with his "words are my tools" soundbite. Great stuff.
 

I'm a massive fan. Interesting point about it being funnier scripted comedy. Starts to panic.
 

Adrian Chiles show after it on BBC2 is also great fun. And Chiles has that rare ability to be able to mock and ridicule somebody and for it not to feel nasty.

Raef is likeable and will be a star. Fantastic TV. Obviously the production crew want to put through as many deluded cock clowns as possible but i wonder what the agreement with Sir Alan is. Presumably a small proportion are there because they might actually make decent 'apprentices'? Or maybe they're all there just to make good TV. Anyone here apply ?

And Nick - I'm sure there'll be a repeat at some stage. There certainly was last year (possibly the following Tuesday)? You could also catch the episodes on the BBC website.

I think Sir Alan probably gets involved because it's free advertising for his many ventures. Over the course of the series they'll probably be a fair few free plugs for his various companies.

I'm not sure how many of them would make decent "apprentices", the last two series he seems to have picked the wrong candidate (didn't Michelle leave within about three months?). While it's merits at discovering top business talent are questionable, it makes great TV.
 

As funny as it may be, I'm not totally convinced that this is the correct forum for it.

If we can discuss Hotel Babylon, Shameless, Skins and Louise Theroux's Weird Weekends on this section, then I think the Apprentice fits right in. Plus, don't be too harsh on yourself.

I think the main difference of this and other reality shows is that, without fail, you think *all* the entrants are cocks, and then slowly grow to like them over the course of the show. Other reality shows seem to be the other way around



I think it's a shame that this year's contestants all seem so young. Like about three/four years into Big Brother when it just became full of students.

It hadn't registered that Weird Weekends was in this forum. I'll move it. Skins I don't watch. Shameless and Hotel Babylon are, well not 'comedy drama', but very light-hearted drama with copious comic scenes. As far as I'm aware, The Apprentice is a reality show which, in some people's opinions, is funny at times. Much like Big Brother or The X Factor or any of that other shit. No?
