I've watched the whole series about a dozen times - initially because it made me laugh (always handy in a comedy), then to analyse it a bit more. The character of Noel was genius. And that episode where the entire pub gets embroiled in a pointless exercise to try and disprove Paul's claim that his fornightly Giro will enable him to enjoy four pints of Holstein, a gram of Charlie, a 'brass' and a taxi home was pure comedy gold.

I think 'Terry Across The Mersey' starring many of the Brookside cast seems a particularly bad one.
 

Back to sitcoms in production - it doesn't mean that EVERYONE will get to the telly.

Loads of shows get green lit and stop at the writing stage (Hippies 2) some get a pilot made but never shown (And Now The Weather). Some get to a table read with a cast (Men & Women, an Arthur Mathews show)

Sorry know this is a few pages old but HAD to comment, 'Orrible is the worst
sitcom I've even seen, with the most predictable storylines since someone in Last of the Summer Wine said ... you are never getting me in xxxxx... cut to Compo in xxxxxx.

It was very very poor, wish we was more like the US and it would have got dumped after the 1st episode. Hated it (you may have got that impression already).

Occassionally a comedy on the list does make it into full production, but is still not shown! (Shane 2)

It's worth keeping an eye on the production list (the latest updates are always at the top) because even if a pilot is cancelled, you'll want to avoid doing anything similar for a while because of the stink it'll have caused ("Oh God, another superhero sitcom!")

The second series of High Stakes was never shown.

Then there's the few which have made it only an episode or two in, notably Heil Honey I'm Home!.


Oh, and Pope Town of course. And less than half of Bromwell High's produced episodes were ever aired here.


And thinking about it, I have a strange feeling that the final episode of Mr Bean might not have actually been broadcast. *scratches head*

Hair by Mr. Bean of London
The episode was filmed in 1995 and was included as an extra on the VHS and DVD releases but was not originally aired on UK television until 25 August 2006, when it was shown on satellite and cable channels Nickelodeon UK and Paramount Comedy 2, but remains the only full-length Mr Bean episode not to air on UK terrestrial television. The episode was even shown on the Irish television channel RTE One in 2005 before being broadcast on any British television channel.

I don't know. *does some reading* AHA! There were 13 episodes broadcast. A 14th, which goes by the name of 'Hair by Mr Bean of London', was... Well I can't really tell if it was never shown or if it was compiled from cut material. But either way, until recent Paramount and Nickelodeon repeats (2006), it was only ever available on VHS/DVD. To this day it is, apparently, the only Bean episode to have not been broadcast on terrestrial TV.
